PLATE P.3.1 — WEBSITE REDESIGN

Website redesign and rebuild for Adelaide businesses

A website redesign takes the site you already have — slow, built on a template, or out of date — and rebuilds it from scratch in code, keeping the pages, addresses and content that already bring you visitors. Ozwebnet designs and rebuilds sites in Adelaide, South Australia, for businesses across Australia. The source code is delivered and the IP assigned to you, for one fixed quote set in writing and staged against milestones.

GENERAL NOTES 02 / 07

What does a website redesign involve?

It starts with the site you have, not a blank page. We read what it already does well — which pages people arrive at, which addresses other sites link to, what visitors come for — and what holds it back: slow loading, a template layout, content nobody can edit. The new site is then written from scratch in code around that evidence. Working pages keep their addresses, or are redirected one by one, so links and search results that point to the old site still land. The result is a faster site that is yours, code included.

SECTION A–A 03 / 07

Who should redesign their website rather than patch it?

BUILT FOR
A business whose site was built on a template years ago and now loads slowly, looks like everyone else's in the industry, or cannot be changed without the person who set it up.
REPLACES
The WordPress theme that has outgrown its plugins; the Wix or Squarespace site you have hit the edges of; the agency build nobody has the login for any more.
NOT FOR
A site that only needs new photos and fresh colour on the template it already runs — that is a refresh, not a rebuild, and we will say so.
SCHEDULE OF WORKS 04 / 07

What is included in a website redesign and rebuild?

01

Survey of the site you have

Every page listed with what it is for, whether anyone visits it, how slowly it loads and what on it is out of date, so the rebuild starts from evidence rather than a blank brief.

02

Address map and redirects

Every old address is written down with its destination on the new site — kept as it is, redirected to a new page, or retired — so nothing that links to the old site ends at an error page.

03

Content carried, rewritten or retired

Each page's text is decided one by one: what is still true is kept and re-set, what has dated is rewritten, and pages nobody visits are retired rather than copied across.

04

The site rewritten from scratch in code

The new pages are written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript around your brand, replacing the theme, page builder or plugin stack the old site ran on.

05

Load measured before and after

The old site's load is measured before the work starts and the new site's after, in the same browser on the same connection, so the difference is one you can see for yourself.

06

Switch-over on your domain

The new site is put up beside the old one, checked at every old address, then switched onto your domain in one move; the old site stays live until the new one answers.

07

Handover, and the old site wound down

You receive the source code with the IP assigned to you, and a list of the old hosting, builder subscription and domain settings with what to keep and what to cancel.

TYPICAL SCOPE FOR THIS KIND OF SYSTEM — YOUR EXACT SCOPE IS FIXED IN WRITING AT THE SPECIFICATION STAGE.

STAGES 05 / 07

How is a website redesign built and priced?

One fixed quote, set in writing at the specification stage (02 Blueprint) and staged against the five milestones below. Each milestone ends with a working system; stop at any milestone and keep what has been built.

SEE THE FIVE STAGES ANIMATED
  1. 01 SURVEY

    Discovery

We survey the site you have: which pages are visited, which are linked to, what loads slowly and what has dated.

  2. 02 BLUEPRINT

    Specification

Every old address and its destination, the pages to keep, rewrite or retire, and the switch-over are specified in writing; the fixed quote is set here, staged against milestones.

  3. 03 FORGE

    Build

The new site is written page by page beside the old one, which stays live; each milestone ends with pages you can open and compare.

  4. 04 TEMPER

    Testing

Every old address is checked against its destination, and the new pages are tested on phones and browsers before the switch.

  5. 05 DEPLOY

    Launch

Your domain is switched to the new site in one move, and you receive the source code with the IP assigned to you.

REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION 06 / 07

Questions before you call

RFI-01Will a website redesign lose my search rankings?

The rebuild is planned so it does not. Every old address is listed before the build starts and is either kept or redirected to its new page, so links and search results still land. Where a page ranks afterwards still depends on what it says and who else competes for the search; our part is making sure the move itself does not get in the way.

RFI-02Does my old site stay up while the new one is built?

Yes. The new site is written beside the old one, which stays live and untouched. Once the new site has been checked at every old address, your domain is switched over in one move.

RFI-03Can you redesign a WordPress, Wix or Squarespace site?

Yes. What the old site publishes is read and carried across page by page, and the new site is written from scratch in code with no theme, page builder or plugin stack. You keep your domain, and the old subscription can be closed once the new site is live.

RFI-04How much does a website redesign cost?

One fixed quote, set in writing before the build and staged against milestones. It is set after the survey of your current site, so it covers the pages, redirects and content work your site actually needs.

RFI-05Do you redesign websites for businesses outside Adelaide?

Yes, Australia-wide. The survey, the build and the switch-over all happen remotely, on your domain, wherever in Australia you are.
