That's the difference a polish makes.
We do the whole car like this, by hand and by machine, in a bay in Kent Town.
Swirls out.
Shine back.

Paint polishing
Will my scratches polish out?
Most dull paint isn't faded. It's covered in fine scratches from washing and drying, and they scatter the light. Polishing takes a very thin layer off the paint's clear top coat until it's smooth again, and the shine comes back.
We measure the paint before we start, so we never take off more than it can spare.
Try the fingernail test
Drawn much bigger than life, so you can see it.
- Swirls Your nail glides straight over. These polish out.
- A light scratch You feel a tiny tick. This usually polishes out.
- A deep scratch Your nail catches in it. Too deep to polish out completely.
If your nail catches, the scratch has gone through the clear coat. We can make it much harder to see, but we won't promise it's gone. Bring it in and we'll tell you before we start.
Rain on a black panel. On the uncoated half the water spreads out and clings. On the coated half it pulls into round beads and runs off.
Ceramic coating
Water beads up. Dirt rinses off.
A ceramic coating is a thin, hard, clear layer that bonds to the paint once it's polished. The gloss looks deeper, water beads and runs off, and dirt doesn't stick, so washing is quicker and gentler on the paint.
It isn't armour. Stone chips and scratches can still happen, and the car still needs washing, just easier washing. For stone chips, there's film.
Paint protection film
Clear film takes the chips, not your paint
A tough, clear film laid over the parts of the car that get hit: the bonnet, bumper, front guards and mirrors. Stones and scuffs mark the film instead of the paint, and a damaged piece can be replaced.
Can you see it? Hardly. We wrap its edges round or keep them just short, and from standing height you won't spot them.
Move the light over the guard to look for the edge.
Interior detailing
The inside, cleaned by hand
Soft brushes in the stitching, leather cleaned and fed, carpets steamed, and the glass done last, so nothing smears it afterwards.
- Leather cleaned with a soft brush and a mild cleaner, then fed, so it stays supple and looks like leather.
- Fabric and carpet steamed and extracted, then dried with the doors open in the bay.
- Vents, seams and switches done with brushes and swabs, never a wet cloth.
- Glass last, inside and out, with a clean towel for each side.
No greasy dressings: your dashboard should look like a dashboard, not wet plastic.

Questions people ask
Do I need all of it?
No. If you just want the shine back, that's a polish. A coating keeps it that way for longer, and film is for the parts that get chipped. We'll tell you what's worth it for your car and the way you use it.
Will the swirls come back?
Swirls come from washing with a dirty mitt or a brush car wash. A coating makes washing gentler and easier, and when you collect the car we'll show you how to wash it without swirling it again.
What will it cost?
It depends on the size of the car and the state of the paint, so we give you a fixed price after the paint check, before any work starts.
Is polishing bad for the paint?
Not when it's measured. We check how thick the paint is before we polish and only take off what the scratches need. If one is too deep, we tell you rather than chase it.
Can you collect the car?
Yes, around the inner east: Norwood, St Peters, College Park and Stepney. We'll arrange a time that suits you.
